Bad news: Pete’s is closed
Posted: January 21st, 2010 | Author: Dan Misener | Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: corktown, pizza | 7 Comments »I noticed something strange earlier this week. Peter’s Cajun Creole Pizza, our favourite pizza place, was dark before midnight. Then, Tina left a comment at this blog suggesting that Pete’s has been “shut down by the landlord.”
Tonight, upon closer inspection, I confirmed that Pete’s (and Peter’s Corner) are indeed closed, and there are notes on both doors from the landlord.
Not good.
Where will I get my panzerotti fix?

Dan, is this really bad news? What did you like about Peter's Corner?
When Mr. Tasty closed, I was hoping it would be replaced by something cool. But Peter's Corner looked to be a step backwards, if anything. They mailed out a menu and despite looking greasy-spoonish it wasn't especially cheap. Blue-collar indie can be cool, but Peter's wasn't.
I hope some skinny-jeaned bearded hipster turns this joint into something cool. Lots of inspiration to the east in Leslieville to draw from.
Disaster!
But take that noose from around your neck and come down off that chair… there’ll be more panzarottis…
That's truly sad news. Hil and I were talking about the place just last weekend.
Hopefully somebody other than a skinny-jeaned bearded hipster takes over that location, because one of those sorts just opened up a coffee shop in the old convenience store near where I live, and I can't stand the place.
Brad, yes, it is absolutely bad news. Peter's Corner may have been a little "meh" (can't say, I only went once), but Peter's Cajun was an absolute jewel. Sad that I won't be able to have another Cajun slice or panzerotti.
well the good news is Peter is opening a new location in the same neighbourhood within the next few weeks. so you'll get your panzerotti fix and i'll get my estate pizza fix…
Sorry to hear about Pete's. I only just learned of it and hadn't made it there yet.
Your quest for panzerotti reminded me that I haven't been to Olympic 76 (8 Gloucester Street) for some time. Their panzerotti with meat sauce is a fav of mine.
[...] for sure, but I suspect the 2009 Toronto city workers strike had a lot to do with the delay. Then, earlier this year, both Peter’s Cajun and Peter’s Corner closed, with notes on the doors from the [...]
