Ordering a “Northbound Southbound” vinyl sticker from Walloper.com
Posted: January 18th, 2009 | Author: Dan Misener | Filed under: Toronto | Tags: customerservice, Toronto, ttc, walloper | 4 Comments »In late December, Jenna and I finally received our Northbound Southbound vinyl wall decal from walloper.com. It’s awesome. We love it.
But though the decal itself is terrific, and looks great in our apartment, the shipping and customer service from Walloper was abysmal. We ordered the decal on November 20, and it didn’t arrive until more than a month later, on December 23rd. In the meantime, Jenna sent several emails, the first of which was ignored or lost (Derek at Walloper cited a “spot of trouble with our email provider”), and they misquoted delivery timelines twice. I understand that walloper is a small company with an overnight success on their hands, and I realize that it’s run by a small handful of people. But still, I can’t help but feel like they could have handled us a little better.
Still… the product is pretty cool:

Looks great, but dont you think it would have been better suited under all of the thermostat stuff? It makes your light switch look slanted with it above it. Or maybe your light switch is slanted?
cool sticker regardless.
nice site,
Josh
Indeed. Our thermostat is slanted. Our light switch is slanted. Our whole apartment is slanted
Totally agree about the service level, Dan and I appreciate you pointing this out. Not to excuse the behaviour but to explain, we were a brand new company and our very first product received quite a bit more attention than we expected and we had a hard time keeping up over the Christmas holidays.
In the meantime we have improved the shipping estimates in our shopping cart so that it is no longer over-optimistic about how long it takes to produce and ship one of these decals, as well we have made improvements to our overall response times in order to (hopefully) keep our customers happier.
We will be looking to buy some equipment this week and ramping up our production schedule, in addition to adding different kinds of designs.
Thanks for your patience as well as your order – the decal looks great!
This is happening to me right now! On August 18 I ordered and paid for (via Paypal) an Eastbound-Westbound decal from Walloper. The delivery estimate given to me was August 21, which I thought was pretty impressive given the labour involved, especially since I'd requested the sides to be swapped to Westbound-Eastbound.
The following week, when the decal hadn't arrived, I tried calling the number listed in my order confirmation email (416-482-9033), but this led to a company called WaySpa with no mention of Walloper. I then tried emailing Walloper (only possible through their web site) but have yet to hear back from anyone. Today I left a message at the WaySpa number just in case.
Funnily enough, the address listed for Walloper in my confirmation email is very close to my house. I'd pass by in person if that didn't seem a bit psycho.
I regret not opening a user account with Walloper as without one I can't login to track my order (order #193, if anyone from Walloper is reading this). Also, since your order took a month to arrive, I feel a bit better about the situation. I'm not in a rush for the decal, and I still believe that once the order has shipped I will receive an email from Walloper with a tracking number (as promised on the Walloper site)…but until then I worry that my order has slipped through the cracks.
